An Authentic Experience
Pre heat the oven to 180˚C, boil the water in a steamer if you have one.
Place the bao buns in a steamer and steam for 7 minutes or heat up in a microwave at full power for 1 minute. Bao buns will be fluffier if steamed. Be careful with the hot filling when bite into them!
Boil one litre of water in a small saucepan, place the raw wontons gently into the boiling water, stir them a few times to prevent them from sticking to the bottom or each other. When the wontons are floating, turn the heat down and let them simmer for further 3 minutes. now pour the soup from bag into another small saucepan, bring to boil, using a slotted spoon to lift the wontons out of the water into the soup, add the contents of tub 1 (garnish, white pepper, and sesame oil). Serve hot with tub 2 at the side (fragrant aged vinegar). If you are not having them on the day of delivery, pop the wontons into the freezer, when cooking, it will take a little longer for them to float, once they are floating, prepared the dish as instructed above.
Scallion Hand Rolled Noodles
Boil 1.5 litre of water in a saucepan, add 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Add noodles, bring to boil again. Then let it boil for 5 minutes, stir a few times to stop them from sticking to the bottom or each other, drain out all the water, transfer noodles into pasta bowls, add sauce from tub 3, mix and serve hot.
Braised Egg Dumplings
Bring 100 ml of water to boil, add the egg dumplings, bring to boil again, and turn down the heat and let it simmer for 10 minutes with a lid on. Add the garnish in tub 4, and serve hot.
Heat up a non-stick pan with lid, add the tofu dish, bring to the boil, then turn the heat down and let it simmer with lid on for 2 minutes. add the content of tub 5, mix well and serve.
Shui Zhu Beef
Heat up a small cast iron pot or saucepan, the beef with sauce, bring to boil. In the meantime, use a small pan to heat up 2 table spoons of cooking oil until it is smoking. When the beef is bubbling, add the herbs in tub 6, pour the hot oil over the top, and serve in the pot.
Sweet and Sour Aubergine
Place the aubergine on a baking tray and heat in the oven for 5 minutes, when they are ready, in a frying pan, heat up the sweet and sour sauce in tub 7, when it is bubbling, mix in the aubergine and serve immediately.
Use a microwave proof bowl, heat in the microwave for 1 minute in full power. If you don’t have a microwave, the rice can be heated in a steamer for 5 minutes.
Granny Cooper’s Apple Pie
Heat the pie in the preheated oven for 8 minutes, heat the custard in a small saucepan until bubbling or in a microwave at full power for 1 minute, and serve with the cream.
